Houston's Louisa J. Hayward '76 appointed to the Albion College Board of Trustees

Albion, MI (07/01/2026) — Louisa J. Hayward, a retired global human resources executive of ExxonMobil Corporation whose career spanned thirty-five years across the health care, higher education, and energy sectors, has joined Albion College's Board of Trustees, effective July 1.

A proud member of Albion's Class of 1976, Hayward earned her bachelor's degree in history and in anthropology and sociology from the college.

Hayward began her career in human resources at Marquette University in Milwaukee, giving her a firsthand understanding of the higher education environment. She went on to earn a master's degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University before joining Mobil Oil Corporation, now ExxonMobil, in 1989.

A series of international assignments followed, with postings in London, Singapore, and New Zealand, where she led both the human resources and public relations functions for Mobil Oil New Zealand and served on its board of directors. After repatriating to the United States, she held a range of senior HR leadership roles - including a place on the team that supported the 1999 merger of Exxon and Mobil - before settling in Houston, Texas, and retiring in 2013.

"From the moment of my first campus visit many years ago, I knew I wanted the Albion experience...a broad liberal arts education in a personalized learning environment," said Hayward. "I believe Albion's mission is even more important in our rapidly evolving world. It is an honor to join a committed Board of Trustees and to support the administration, faculty, staff, and students who make Albion's mission come alive every day."
