Grosse Pointe Resident John Fodell Inducted into Albion College Athletic Hall of Fame
Albion, MI (11/02/2026) — Albion College is pleased to congratulate Grosse Pointe resident John Fodell, inducted earlier this month in the College's Athletic Hall of Fame. A member of the Class of 2006, Fodell graduated from Albion with a degree in physical education.
A standout swimmer for both Albion and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Fodell was named to three All-MIAA teams and ended his career as conference champion in the breaststroke. He further competed in two Division III national championship events, placing 16th in the 200-yard breaststroke and earning a spot on the 2006 All-American second team. Twice named captain and team MVP, Fodell set five school records, two of which are still top-10 times. To top it all off, Fodell earned three additional letters as a member of Albion's tennis team.
As current head coach of the boys and girls swim & dive programs at Grosse Pointe South High School and Grosse Pointe Gators club swim team, John has coached champion swimmers and teams, and received three Michigan Swimming Coaches Association Coach of the Year honors.
